Visit the famous medieval town and the marshes around Nantes with this Guérande & La Brière Day Trip. One of the most beautiful natural areas in the Loire region.
Guérande & La Brière Day Trip
At 8:30 am, we'll pick you up at your hotel in Nantes and set off for Guérande, one of the best-preserved medieval towns in the Loire region.
We'll take a guided tour of Guérande to see its ancient curiosities and other jewels. Among its main monuments, the Porte de Saint-Michel stands out, which we'll see in front of the town hall. In the old town, we'll also see great religious buildings, such as the collegiate church of Saint-Aubin and the Gothic chapel of Notre-Dame-la-Blanche, which dates from the 13th century.
The tour will then head to a restaurant in the historical centre of Guérande, to enjoy a typical French lunch that will include a selection of specialities from the region. After lunch, we'll head for the La Brière marshes, which are part of the Regional Natural Park located by the Loire River estuary.
As soon as we arrive at this protected natural area, we'll enjoy a boat ride through the marshes of La Brière to better appreciate its beautiful landscapes. During the trip, we'll also talk to you about the native fauna that inhabits these wetland ecosystems. Did you know that 15% of all the bittern birds in France are concentrated in this area?
After the boat ride through the marshes, we'll return by bus to Nantes. Arrival at your hotel is scheduled for 6:30 pm.
The tour includes pick-up and return transfer to hotels in the centre of Nantes. If you're staying in other more remote areas, we'll pick you up at the Bacchus bus station, located on Avenue Allée de la Maison Rouge.
